Dear Taiwo,Some things happen in life that are not premeditated and when they do, you just don’t know how to handle them or what to do. No matter how smart you think you are, when confronted with issues of this nature, you need to exercise caution and be careful.
One of such situations is my birth, or how would you explain a situation where your mother couldn’t marry your father because she gave birth to a girl and her rival gave birth to a boy.
I have nothing against my mother; I cannot love any other like her. She gave me life and made sure I am what I am today by the grace of God. Despite all the odds against her, she made sure I got the best of everything.
According to her, she met my father during her one year internship at a bank and they started dating. He told her from the outset that he wanted to marry her. This gave my mother the confidence and assurance and she did not stop at anything to help him when he had problems with his studies even when people and her family members were against her.
On two occasions, she had to bail him out of difficult financial situations with her father’s money, which eventually became a big issue within her family.
After graduating from school, she served in a bank where she was eventually retained for employment. She lost the job and couldn’t get another banking job because she foolishly pulled a huge amount of money from a customer’s deposit to help my father solve a financial crisis, which he did not pay up as promised.
The customer eventually discovered, she was sacked and her father had to intervene and threw a lot of weight around for her not to go to jail for fraud. Her parents insisted that she should leave him, but unfortunately, she was already pregnant with me by then.
You can imagine the trauma she went through. Because of me, her parents forgave him and ask him what he wanted from my mother. He said he wanted her as his wife. Because they wanted the best for her and also wanted her to settle down, they agreed to help him set up his desired business.
Their wedding was twice postponed because his father was ill. Then, my mother’s Expected Delivery Date, EDD, was close, they eventually agreed that they would get married after my birth.
It was never to be because my mother and her family, however, received the shock of their lives when they found out that another woman gave birth to a baby boy for him the very same day and his family decided to accept the woman with the baby boy… To be continued next week.
wow, what a live
